Night Photography – Buffalo River – Island Park, Idaho

I love night photography, especially when I can combine it with light painting, as I did with these images. On a photo excursion this summer, I stayed up to capture the stars, milky way, and even the Northern Lights. It was difficult to see the colors of the Northern Lights in the night sky. In fact, the a slow shutter speed on my camera could detect the beautiful purple and green colors from the Northern Lights much better than my eyes could see it. When shooting at a high ISO and wide aperture, a tripod is vital. When combined with light painting, only a slight flicker from a spotlight will do the trick. I hope you enjoy these lights paintings I did near the Buffalo River in Island Park, Idaho.
