These portraits were taken by students in my BYU-Idaho Comm 370 Digital Imaging Courses on May 24, 2012 on our photo excursion to Bannack Ghost Town, Montana.
We had 201 entries in our Bannack Shootout Contest. These portraits were taken during a special one hour portrait contest on our excursion to Bannack Ghost Town on May 24. We had over 65 people on the trip and it was a huge success. We selected these 39 finalists from the 201 entries. Link to original 201 entries
While at Bannack Ghost Town, we set up seven stations with special lighting in the Bannack Ghost Town hotel and saloon. This is the first semester we had a group of models come and it made a huge difference. I want to thank my two TA s, Dustin Olsen and Julie Peterson who helped keep everything going smoothly! I am also so grateful to all of our lab assistants who came and donated their time to serve as instructors and group leaders on our excursion to Bannack Ghost Town excursion. I was so impressed with how they all guided everyone during the photo shootout contest, with all our special lighting setups. This was an amazing experience and the epitome of the BYU-Idaho Learning Model in action, with “students teaching students!” The success of this excursion shows in the quality of their contest entries. Thanks to all the students who took the time to enter this extra contest. I promise some great prizes for the TOP TEN winners next Wednesday in class!
